The prix-fixe fun is ending on Friday so we thought we’d take a walk down memory lane (a very short walk) and look at the dishes you all loved.

Taken by @MeganHorowitch at the French Cambodian spot, Elephant Walk.

Whoa whoa whoa we thought is was Restaurant Week in Boston- not Paris! @Meggiegriff has stumbled upon some delicious crepes at Aquitaine.

Tamo’s menu is looking fresh! @Nonprofit_meg never met a baby biscotti she didn’t like.

@Kirshbomb617 opted for Tremont647 and we have just one word to say. Meatttttttttttttttttt.

Looking through those pictures has made us hungry! Good thing there’s 2 days left to fill up on some delicious deals. Go make reservations fast!

Photo Tips for #PatioTime

There’s no doubt many of you will be snapping pictures of your (formerly known as) Restaurant Week dishes, but those Instagrams rarely seem to come out Bon Appetit ready. Ensure your photos or #PatioTime contest entry stands out amongst the crowd by following these 6 simple tips…

1. Natural Light

Whenever possible, look to photograph your meal under natural light. The best places to for this would be dining by the window or on the patio. But we all know that this is a rarity in dimly lit bars and restaurants. Ask a friend to use their flashlight app to lighten up your dish or position that candle right by your plate. Never use the flash- the quality will be grainy and it will distract the other diners. And remember- if you dine al fresco for #PatioTime you won’t have to worry!

2. The Right Angle

Though overhead shots are great for food photos, don’t be afraid to really get in there. Try taking a close shot to highlight the details of the dish. Doing this can create a really dynamic photo with layers of depth.

3. The Right App

There’s so many camera apps out there, don’t limit yourself to just one! Play around with VSCO Cam, Hipstamatic and Camera+. You can even download Photoshop Express to your phone for some enhancements and editing.

4. Be in the Moment

As much as you want to document your meal, you’ll remember it best by taking in the smells and tastes of it. So snap a couple pix on and then tuck that phone away for future editing and posting.

5. Be Selective

Don’t hold on to grainy photos. There’s nothing worse than blowing up your friends feeds with unidentifiable dishes.

6. Tag it!

Make sure to tag the restaurants when you post! Give these restaurants the credit they deserve for creating stunning dishes. And if you’re dining al fresco be sure to tag #PatioTime for a chance to win!

Now get on over to your prix-fixe destination smartphone in hand and get snapping! Don’t forget to ask for a seat on the patio, that way you can dine on a delicious deal, snap a few pix with the hashtag #PatioTime and be entered to win $50 to Citizen!

#PatioTime Contest!

Summer is dwindling and we’re sure that you’re enjoying the al fresco dining season, but we thought we could add a little extra incentive to get you hitting up as many patios as possible before Fall.

The next time you’re dining in the fresh air on any of the patios on the BostonChefs.com Outdoor Dining Guide just snap a picture, use the hashtag #PatioTime and tag @BostonChefsNews- you’ll be entered to win a prize!

What prize!? A $50 gift certificate to Citizen- which has a mighty cool patio right in the heart of Fenway! Not to mention killer food and craft cocktails!

And guess what- it gets even better. We’ve compiled a list of all the Restaurant Week participants with patios so you can grab an al fresco, prix-fixe meal AND be entered to win that $50 to Citizen!

Let’s review.

Vegetarians, You Have Options Too!

Feeling left out of the two most delicious weeks of the summer just because you’re vegetarian? Well you’re in luck because we’ve rounded up the most veggie friendly prix fixe menus around town.

Proclaimed one of the most romantic spots in Boston, vegetarians will swoon over Bacco’s butternut squash ravioli and sundried tomato pasta- top it all off with a classic cannoli.

For the pescatarian crowd, Bergamot is your jam with quite the fish forward menu.

Flora has got one thing on the menu that you veg heads will love- KALE! Not to mention fried green tomatoes to boot!

From faro to grilled portobello and even fried tofu in between, Henrietta’s Table is certainly a welcoming one to vegetarians.

For the gluten-intolerant Da Vinci is your best bet with two vegetarian entrees and all the pasta can be substituted with any sauce.

Go crazy and do tapas. Not only do you get to try more things, but Kika Tapas, Solea and Tapeo all have nice round up of both meat and veggie centered bites.

Last, but certainly not least Elephant Walk is the OG of vegetarian options. It’s a rare sight to see half the menu devoid of meat and they have quite a few vegan and gluten free options as well.

Vegetarians, rejoice! There are plenty of options for you too. And we’re going to give you a little tip. Anytime you see a green pepper on the page, that’s your clue that there are some vegetarian options on the menu. So peruse Restaurant Week Boston listing and make those reservations!
